Your Honeymoon Doesn't Have to Look Like Everyone Else's

October 06, 2026•2 min read

Maldives. Mauritius. Bali. Santorini.

They’re all beautiful honeymoon destinations, and for the right couple, I’d happily recommend any of them.

But your honeymoon doesn’t have to start with a list of places other people go on honeymoon.

I’d rather start with the two of you.

What would you actually love to do?

Some couples want two weeks on an incredible beach with very little planned beyond where they’re having dinner.

Others would be bored by day three.

You might want wildlife and safari followed by a few days on the coast.

Japan, with food, cities and culture.

A road trip through New Zealand.

Sri Lanka with a beach stay at the end.

A cruise that lets you wake up somewhere different every morning.

Or perhaps you do want the Maldives — but you want help finding the island and resort that suits you rather than choosing from hundreds that begin to look remarkably similar.

There isn't one answer to “Where should we honeymoon?”

And that's what makes planning them so interesting.

Your budget matters, but so does how you spend it

One of the first things I want to know is roughly what you're comfortable spending.

Not because I'm trying to push you towards the top of it.

It tells me what's realistic and, more importantly, where I think your money is best spent.

Perhaps I'd choose a less expensive room for part of the trip so you can have the experience you've always wanted.

Perhaps premium flights matter more to you than the fanciest hotel.

Perhaps I'd suggest 10 brilliant nights rather than stretching the budget across 14.

This makes a difference.

Don't forget the time

A two-week honeymoon doesn't automatically mean 14 days in the destination.

Flight times, connections and transfers all matter.

A beautiful resort can look perfect online, but if getting there uses a significant chunk of the time you have available, I want us to know that before we book it.

It's one of the reasons I look at the whole honeymoon, rather than starting with a hotel.

You don't need to know where you want to go

This is probably the most important bit.

You can come to me with absolutely no idea.

Tell me when you're getting married, when you'd like to travel, roughly what you want to spend and a little about the two of you.

Tell me what you've loved on previous holidays.

Tell me what you definitely don't want.

Then I can start looking.

Because the honeymoon I'd suggest for one couple could be completely different from the one I'd suggest for the next.

And somewhere in those possibilities might be something you didn't even know to search for.

That's the part I love.

I want to show you what you didn't know was there.

If you're starting to think about your honeymoon, this is the part I step in and handle with you.
