The Kids Are Back at School. What Are You Looking Forward To?

September 01, 20261 min read

September has arrived, the summer holidays are over and routines are starting again.

Which also makes this a very good time to put something else in the diary.

If you'd still like to get away before the end of 2026, there are plenty of options worth looking at.

October half term

If you want some sunshine before winter arrives, I’d start here now.

The Canaries are always popular, but depending on your dates, budget and how warm you want it, I’d also be looking at Cyprus, Turkey and destinations further afield.

Your departure airport can make a big difference too, so it’s worth looking at the whole picture rather than choosing the destination first.

Winter sun

Perhaps October is too soon, but you still want to escape the British winter.

The Canaries, Egypt and Cape Verde can work well without going long haul, while the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Dubai and parts of Asia open up plenty more possibilities.

The right answer depends on whether you want a week by the pool, somewhere to explore, all-inclusive ease or something a little more special.

Or embrace winter instead

You don't have to escape the cold.

A few days in a European city, a ski trip or Lapland can give you something completely different to look forward to.

And Lapland isn't only about Father Christmas. Glass igloos, huskies, snowmobiles, saunas and the Northern Lights can make it just as interesting for adults.

You don't need to know exactly where you want to go.

Tell me who's travelling, when you can go, where you can fly from and roughly what you'd like to spend.

I can price this up for you, and show you what you didn't know was there.
