A lot has changed at Costello Travel

Costello Travel · Behind the Scenes

A lot has changed at Costello Travel. The important bit hasn't.

New partnerships, new ways to work with me and a growing business, but the reason I do this remains exactly the same.

It’s been a little while since I wrote here.

Not because Costello Travel has been quiet. Quite the opposite.

The last few months have been some of the busiest since I started the business, and somewhere between planning holidays, meeting new people, building new partnerships and launching something I’ve wanted to create for a long time, the blog slipped down the list.

So, before I get back to sharing my usual travel advice, I thought it was probably time for a proper update.

Because Costello Travel has grown.

But the reason behind it hasn’t changed at all.

Travel is personal. That’s why I start with people, not destinations.

This has become the simplest way I can explain how I work.

You can find thousands of holidays online in minutes. You can compare hotels, ask AI where to go, read reviews and spend an entire evening scrolling through options.

What’s harder is knowing which one is actually right for you.

That’s the part of travel I love.

I want to know who’s travelling, what matters to them, how they like to spend their time and what they want to remember when they come home.

Sometimes that leads to a five-star hotel on the other side of the world.

Sometimes it leads to a week in the sunshine that comes in comfortably under the budget we discussed.

The most expensive option isn’t automatically the right one.

It’s about making the most of the time you have.

Costello Travel has become about more than one type of holiday

Honeymoons and once-in-a-lifetime trips will always be a big part of what I do, but over the last few months the business has naturally grown around the different reasons people travel.

I’m arranging family holidays, milestone celebrations, city breaks, beach holidays and those much-needed weeks away where the only real requirement is sunshine and a chance to switch off.

Sports travel has become an increasingly important part of the business too.

That might mean travelling to watch a major event, planning a break around the sport you love, or turning a few days of sport into a longer holiday.

And wellness has become part of that picture too, because sometimes the thing you need most from your time away is simply the opportunity to stop.

Different holidays. Different budgets. Different reasons for going.

The starting point is always the same: the people travelling.

You might have spotted Costello Travel somewhere unexpected

One of the biggest developments recently has been Costello Travel becoming a sponsor of FC United of Manchester.

There’s now a Costello Travel board at Broadhurst Park, which is still rather surreal to see.

I wanted any partnership I made to mean something beyond simply putting my logo somewhere, and FC United’s focus on community, inclusion and positive change made the relationship one I was very happy to support.

I’ve also been building relationships within the wellness sector, including working with Hawk & Heath, and spending much more time out meeting people through business networking and events.

For what is still a very personal business, Costello Travel is becoming visible in quite a few more places.

And then there’s the Costello Travel Club

This is probably the biggest new addition.

I launched the Costello Travel Club in August for people who want ongoing access to a travel professional rather than only getting in touch when they’re ready to book something.

It’s somewhere I can share the things I’m seeing, places worth knowing about, travel opportunities and the kind of information that comes across my desk every day.

More importantly, members can come directly to me when they have a travel question, want another opinion or need help making sense of what they’re looking at.

It came from something I see all the time: people don't necessarily need more travel information.

There is plenty of that already.

Sometimes they just need someone they trust to help them make sense of it.

The business is growing, but I don't want to lose what made it work

This matters to me.

As Costello Travel grows, I don't want it to become a business where somebody sends an enquiry, receives a list of holidays and is expected to pick one.

That's never been how I want to work.

I spent years in finance before starting Costello Travel, and one thing that has stayed with me is being careful with other people's money.

When someone tells me their maximum holiday budget, I don't see it as a target I need to hit.

If the right holiday costs less, that's a good result.

If I think spending a little more somewhere would genuinely make a difference, I'll explain why.

And if something isn't worth paying extra for, I'll say that too.

That's the kind of travel business I wanted to build.

So, what's next?

More of this blog, for one thing.

I want to use it to answer the questions I'm actually being asked, share what I'm seeing in travel and talk about the things worth checking before you spend your money.

There will be holidays, sport, wellness, honeymoons, destinations and probably the occasional travel opinion too.

But underneath all of it will be the same idea that Costello Travel started with.

We all know how much money we have.

None of us knows how much time we have.

How we choose to spend it matters.

If there’s a holiday you’ve been meaning to sort, tell me what you’re looking for.

I can sort it properly for you.
